Loss of Posture — Left-Side Anchor Drill
Loss of posture in the downswing is one of the fastest ways to lose contact, face control, and distance. This quick drill helps you lock in your spine angle and teach your lead leg to work so you can hold posture all the way through impact.
Posture
Downswing Control
Lead Leg Stability
Andrew has you step your right foot back behind your left, load almost all your weight into the lead leg, and make controlled three-quarter swings while holding your finish. This exaggerates how much the left leg has to work to keep you in posture instead of early standing up or backing away from the ball.
- Standing up out of your angles in the downswing.
- Early extension toward the ball (hips moving in, chest backing up).
- Thin, heel, or high-face contact when you try to swing harder.
- Inconsistent low point and “flippy” hand action at impact.
- Lead leg working harder to keep you tall and in posture as you swing.
- Weight staying mostly over the lead foot, not drifting back to the trail foot.
- Balanced, held finish where you could “pose” for a photo.
- Spine angle feeling more stable instead of popping up through impact.
